Ethically controversial aspects of selected media relations tools

The bachelor's thesis deals with one of the areas of public relations - media relations. First it characterizes media relations as a field, then it describes individual media relations tools, and in selected ones it also explores their ethical side. It also assesses the relationship between PR workers and journalists and how important they are to each other's work. It then represents the codes of ethics that regulate media relations and their practices. The practical part uses both quantitative and qualitative research. First, PR professionals are subjected to a quantitative online questionnaire. Afterwards, interest turns to active lifestyle media journalists who gave an interview on the topic of media relations ethics. Through these two methods, the author attempts to find out how media relations work in practice, how professionals view problematic aspects of media relations, and what personal experience they have with selected media relations tools.
Ethics in employment of third-country nationals in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the ethical standards that should be comply by Czech employers in the context of third country nationals' employment. The theoretical part is focused on labor migration and on the process of third country nationals' employment in the Czech Republic. It also refers to the main points of business ethics within the relationship between employer and employees. The practical part of thesis contains a general summary of current ethical rules that should be respected by employers. In the next section there is, in specific cases described the current state of ethical standards within the relationship between employers and interviewed employees, who belong to the third country nationals group.
Ethics at the wards of psychiatric hospital

Thesis deals with the ethical problems at the wards of psychiatric hospital. The environment of a psychiatric hospital in the context of its target group psychiatric patients is a source of ethically important situations, which must be solved by the medical social worker. This puts high demands on the worker as he is the/an executive tool of medical social work.The goal of the thesis is to identify ethically important situations, to suggest their solution and eventually to reflect these solutions with the ethical theories, ethical codes, inner rules of the psychiatric hospital and other statutory norms. The structure of the thesis is adjusted to this goal: first, I define the environment of the hospital, describe the target group and medical social worker profession. Secondly, I describe ethical problems identified before, suggest their solutions and reflect them. Finally, in the last part of the thesis, in the discussion, I contemplate about preliminary ethical understanding as a basis for identification of the ethical problems and I ponder other factors that matters in reaching the remedies of ethical problems.
Ethical Codes in State Administration: Case Study

This Diploma thesis deals with the topic of ethical codes in the state administration of the Czech Republic. This issue is very important for good and efficient functioning of the state administration, but it is still neglected and under-discussed. The diploma thesis aims at explaining the importance of ethical codes in the state administration and conducting a research probe of a specific ethical code. The theoretical grounding of the text is based on the concept of good governance and its principles, the principles of ethics, the definition of the principles of an effective ethical code and the approximation of the current state of functioning of ethical codes in the Czech republic´s administration. The practical part - research probe of a specific ethical code, analyses its quality and effectiveness. The Czech Republic is actively committed to the concept of good governance and its governing bodies are very active in adopting specific ethical codes. However, as the diploma thesis explains, the individual ethical code is not always effective, up-to-date and specific.
PR Professional as an Important Resource for Journalism

It evaluates how important source of information public relations might be for journalists in respect to ethical principles of work with media sphere and to critical perception of information, which is essential for both journalists and PR professionals in the times of nearly unlimited information sources. The thesis maps current PR environment by means of theoretical knowledge and both qualitative and quantitative research based on answers of real PR workers who focus mainly on media relations. The thesis concentrates on ethic codes in both public relations and media, compares them and subsequently analyzes how observed they truly are. On the basis of answers of the representative sample of respondents, the thesis offers a view of PR professionals on working in media relations and reveals imperfections of media relations, so it could offer proper recommendation which PR agencies and press departments might use to improve their work. Ethics in relation to social protection of children

This Bachelor's thesis deals with activities of the the Office for Social Protection of Children with emphasis on ethical aspects and support given to the OSPOD workers by employers. The paper analyses whether the level of support is sufficient, how it impacts on the efficacy of the OSPOD workers and who provides the funding. The theoretical part focuses on analysis of the ethical codes of the OSPOD workers and on activities of this institution. The practical part analyses in detail two selected bodies of the OSPOD, particularly from the perspective of the support provided by employers in dealing with ethical issues and looks at complaints dealt with by the Ombudsman with emphasis on the ethical aspects of the complaints. Based on the analyses of the selected OSPOD bodies, it can be concluded that the support in dealing with ethical issues provided by employers is sufficient, it has a positive impact on the outcome of the OSPOD activities and it is funded from subsidies for social and legal protection of children.
Codes of good governance and their compliance in banking organizations

The thesis deals with the issue of ethical codes and codes of good governance and their application in selected financial institutions Banks in Slovak Republic, Czech Republic and abroad ( VÚB, Citibank, Komerční Banka and HSBC ). Within the framework of the theoretical background is presented the complexity of the relationship of the ethics and the banking sector in the form of the creation and implementation of Aegean codes and the implementation of the policy of corporate social responsibility. In the practical part is a comparative analysis of the codes of ethics of four selected banks with an evaluation of the questionnaire surveys of their clients which reflect their view of the ethical values of the bank and their compliance with the principle sections of these codes.
